Hello everyone,
Hereby a quick summer newsletter with news about the EAA Urban Community.
EAA Annual Meeting
One month from now, the EAA Annual Meeting will take place in Belfast. Of course, our community will also be present at this meeting. What’s in store for Urban Archaeology?
- Wednesday 30 August 14.00
Our annual community business meeting. Join us to discuss together how we can make urban archaeology and our community better known and what new activities we can launch. If you are not in Belfast, we can also set up an online connection. We can always use people who want to get involved in our community. If you are interested, let us know!
- Friday 2 September 8.30-10.30
session 406 - Urban and Underground Archaeology Exposed: 15 Years of Cultural Heritage Experience and Public Outreach.
Urban Habitat book
A proposal has been sent to our potential publisher with the outline of the book In search of the urban habitat: the town in its environmental and spatial setting. The editors of the book are: Jeroen Bouwmeester, Paul Belford, Rebecca Boyd, Maarten Groenendijk and Paul S. Johnson. We now have 24 pledged contributions. Should you still wish to participate, please let us know as soon as possible. Now wait and see if the proposal is accepted by the editorial board.
Online meeting on Urban houses
We are planning to organise an online meeting this autumn on the topic “New urban housing” - recent results of archaeologically proven urban architecture. It could be a prelude to a physical meeting outside the EAA meeting or for a session during the meeting in Rome next year. If you are interested in giving a short presentation on this topic at this online meeting, just send us a message and you will be on the list.
Website
If you have any information that could be posted on our website, please let us know. Should you be interested in helping to develop and expand the website, please do! Please let me know. Our website address is www.urbanarchaeology.org
Hope to see you in Belfast or at one of our other activities,
With warm regards,
Jeroen

We are the EAA Community for Urban Archaeology. We exchange ideas, experiences, research, knowledge etc. all to improve archaeological research and heritage management in (highly dynamic) urban centres. We are part of the European Association of Archaeologists, but don’t represent the EAA as a whole.
